Happily in ignorance
Lying amid innocence
Forgotten is the sin
Committed by those ignorant
Of crimes they'll see again
But happily they live
Happily they give
Happily they obey
And happily they'll pay
For their innocent sins
Against the tortured
Sins against the maimed
Sins against the innocent
Who live forever shamed
Forgotten amid ignorance
To forever carry blame,
Never forget the names
But never see acceptance
By the winners of this game
'Till the winners do the same:
Forget their comfy lives
Forget their comfy dreams
Forget their comfy ignorance
This life's not as it seems!
Motivation is ulterior
Patriots superior
Laborers inferior
Unless they happily play this game.
This is a work in progress, but I'm less concerned about perfection and more about getting the message out.
:iconsfm: posted a journal including a documentary about the atrocity of ignorance of human rights violations and it really has me thinking about how little the general public is informed about these issues. It's really only those seeking them out that know about them. There's no doubt in my mind a lot of this has to do with comfort. How people are happier not knowing how awful the world is, and I often wonder if it's worse to upset this happy comfort, to inject those unaware with such an intense guilt, or to leave them in the ignorance as many would deny such crimes from the beginning.
In writing this, I've decided the best course of action is education. Screw comfort.
Here are my inspirations:

Darfur: [link]
The Holocaust: [link]
US Aided Genocide in Guatemala: [link]
Genocide of American Indians: [link]
And all other crimes against humanity from past to present to those that undoubtedly exist in the future.
